The revolution is coming... again?
Warner Bros. Pictures has been trying to get the live-action adaptation of the famed manga/anime "Akira" off the ground for years and now it seems like they are trying once again. It has been reported that the new showrunner of Netflix's "Marvel's Daredevil", Marco J. Ramirez, was hired to pen the screenplay for WB.
Previously, director Jaume Collet-Serra was attached to the film while Garrett Hedlund, Kristen Stewart, Ken Watanabe and Helena Bonham Carter were entering negotiations to star in it. This was then canceled due to casting, script and budget issues.
Seeing how "Akira", tied with "Evangelion" series, is my favorite anime of all-time, I am always weary to see how the filmmakers will Westernized the story for the western market, but I have faith in WB because they have proven themselves to be a force to be reckoned with, in terms of remakes.
What do you think? Do you want an "Akira" remake?
