"We always knew they were coming back."
The first official trailer for "Independence Day: Resurgence" was released today, showing some of the fan-favorites from the original coming back to stop the aliens once again. Jeff Goldblum, Bill Pullman, Judd Hirsch and Brent Spiner all return as their respective characters from the 1996 original film to battle the revenge-seeking alien race.
"Independence Day" is probably my biggest guilty pleasure film and it probably is for a lot of other people as well, so naturally, when Fox announced the sequel, people got really worried that it wouldn't capture the same over-the-top nature of the first film that made is so lovably dumb. However, it seems the filmmakers are doing the absolute best they can with the sequel and are working hard to make it seem like an fun entertaining flick. The effects are decent, the new cast seems pretty serviceable and it looks to be an all-out war on more of a global scale. Looks very impressive and I'm excited to see the film next year.
